Good news. In Los Cabos you can find many of the same name brand products on the shelves as back home in the USA and Canada, plus Mexican, Spanish, Latin American (and even Cuban products). American companies such as Kraft, General Mills, Proctor and Gamble and others, have had Latin divisions manufacturing their products in Mexico for decades. Now thanks to NAFTA, many more products are available on both sides of the border.

If looking for jewelry out in the Pedegral find old Ed Feinstein who's still kicking around, with over 61 years of experience, the last 26 have been right here in Cabo, where Ed Feinstein has crafted his position as one of the most exclusive jewelers in Los Cabos.
Out in San Jose del Cabo a fair distance from Marina Sol find Indira Gems it is a gem of an enterprise. Husband-and-wife owners Indira López and Isidro Sánchez, a master jeweler, create and fabricate unique jewelry that is far from traditional. These special and noteworthy pieces are different from others you will find elsewhere.
The inimitable team takes inspiration from pre-Columbian cultures like the Aztecs and Mayans, and they’ve collaborated in creating idiosyncratic pieces using natural elements such as bone, shells, deer horns, and wood, as well as gem stones of every color and bronze, copper, brass, gold, and silver. No bottle caps nor Apache inspirations.
I feel the energy in the stones, Sánchez says as he shows off a pendant he is crafting; it’s a mermaid surrounded by bubbles made out of tiny opals.
Some feel the energy when stoned. Poor old Feinstein feels nothing anymore.
Each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity comes signed by Sánchez.

BILLFISH: I am really confused about the Marlin fishing
so far this season. Maybe those tequilas at the pool bar is why. I know
that it is an El Nino year so the water is going to remain warmer longer, but
I saw a Blue Marlin that weighed in at just around 800 pounds hanging from the
scales on Wednesday! And I was sober. Some come to Cabo to party. Some to golf. Most to fish. See the beach scene near the hotel.

I did not get over there in time to find out where the fish was caught or what it was caught on as I was still drinking, but having Blue Marlin remain in our area this long, and be a fairly consistent catch is very unusual for us. Normally we are getting multiples of Striped marlin and the water has cooled to 72 degrees by now, but the water is still warm and the bite on the Striped Marlin has not yet turned on full time.
Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico is The Marlin Capital of the World. Cabo fishing is world class sportfishing at its best. Every month of the year is a good month to fish.
Bait your hook and look; a fish!
We were delighted to have a couple of very young anglers show us not only their good luck but also their stamina. Brad (only 15 years old) and Shane Williams (a mere 13 years old) from Arcadia, California fished one day aboard the “Minerva II” and caught and released one striped marlin, caught 15 tunas and then caught 3 dorados. They released all of them. I asked why. The boys replied they don't like to eat fish just have their picture taken with one. Then when they get off the boat they beeline it to the Burger King.
They thought they had had the greatest fishing day of their lives until they fished again onboard the “Minerva VI” and caught and released 7 striped marlin!
In the Walmart in town they put produce in their shopping cart then after a while remove everything putting it all back on the shelves.
Mom and Dad have to make plans to come back again next year! By the way, when you get down to Cabo and catch some fish, you absolutely have to visit MISSIONES de KINO restaurant. The Williams family took one of their fresh dorado there to have prepared for them and absolutely loved it! So do we, it’s one of our favorites! Or cook the thing up in your resort condos in Maria Sol.
If you have questions on what's biting now, feel free to send us an e-mail and we'll be glad to share the information. If you're calling from the U.S., the cost of the call may exceed that of the cost of bait for sure.
fine dinning here in Cabo:
Edith's not far from Marina Sol
Start with a salad
healthy fresh salads
The Orchards of the Todos Santos oasis have allways supplied fresh vegetables to the Cape region, happily, nowadays some varieties are grown that, up to a few years ago, here were completely unknown. Mind you the people didn't know much.
Proudly prepared at your table, for two or more diners, according to the original recipe from the Caesar's Hotel in Tijuana, probably the best known dish originating in Baja California.
An anthology of the greens and vegetables grown organically in the region of Pescadero & Todos Santos, washed only with purified water. Ask your waiter about our family salad.
Then go on to the soups
A traditional tortilla soup, garnished with roast dried guajillo peppers, cheese & avocado.
no Appache soups
Today's Soup, Bisque or Chowder
Depending on the freshest produce from the orchards of Todos Santos or the catch of the day in Punta Lobos; or depending on how the cook feels; different every day.
Your waiter will gladly inform you.
Example of appetizer
Special cheese turnovers
Hand- patted corn or wheat flour tortillas, cooked on the griddle and stuffed with cheese, fresh mushrooms, red bell peppers and bacon.
A main dish
Mesquite-grilled petít Mignon Steak, breast of Chicken,
blue corn Quesadilla, stuffed with three kinds of cheese- zucchini blossom and epazote herb.
Shrimp Enchilada in a guajillo pepper sauce
This dish is served with pacific rice, beans, and guacamole.
Our good friend says
We dinned on two great fresh catches: Baja Lobster and Red Snapper.
Everything was flawless, the service was superb and smoothly executed without seeming pompous.
The live music was perfect: think 60s hits played as Brazilian smooth jazz.
Seems like Elevator music to me.
I wish we could have stayed longer.
I have never had such a fantastic ocean-front experience in all my Mexican travels and was so SO lucky to have squeezed in a late reservation on a Saturday night. I will be coming back... for something momentous and romantic next time!
Hacienda Cocina y Cantina
breakfast, lunch, or dinner
from Huevos Rancheros for breakfast
Fried egg, oaxacan mole, black beans, bean salad, cheese, sour cream
to Chile Relleno De 3 Quesos Con Salsa De Frijol Negro for dinner
Cheese stuffed poblanos, black bean sauce, mango pico de gallo
and tamales too
wow! I'm on my way!
some history and shopping ideas:
You may have heard of the Gadsden Purchase done with no money down and no interst for 6 months was a region of present-day southern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico that the United States purchased via a treaty signed on December 30, 1853, by one James Gadsden, the U.S. ambassador to Mexico at that time who adorned a sombrero to look more in place.
The U.S. Senate voted in favor of ratifying it and then transmitted it to President Franklin Pierce.
Pierce astutely asked hey what about Baja California and Cabo San Lucas?.
That's where Frankie always went to catch marlin. Always goiing around with bait in his pocket so the Mexicans called him El Stinko.
Mexico's government and its Congress of the Union took final approval action on June 8, 1854.
Those in favor argued that Mexico needed the money and besides it's arid land; unproductive; no moisture; aridus in Latin.
To that those opposed replied you scoundrels; good-for-nothings; clod-hoppers; do nothings; boobies; copy-cats; slackers; low-down dirty cheats.
But those in favor presided.
This interest-free purchase was the last substantial territorial acquisition in the continental United States.
The U.S. wanted a better route for the construction of the southern transcontinental railway line. This way people would not have to fly United.
The financially-strapped government of inept Antonio López de Santa Anna agreed to the sale, which netted Mexico $10 million dollars. Worth more than Vincente Fox's polished boots with heels of jade and gold which he got after assending to the presidency of Mexico some time later while his wife went on shopping sprees in Paris.
After the devastating loss of Mexican territory to the U.S. (1846–48), Santa Anna may have calculated it was better to yield territory by treaty and receive payment rather than have the territory simply seized by the U.S. cabro-.
The purchase included lands south of the Gila River and west of the Rio Grande which the U.S. acquired so that it could construct a transcontinental railroad along a deep southern route, which the Southern Pacific Railroad needed.
But did not include Cabo San Lucas with this mall near lovely Marina Sol.
Luxury Avenue. In the middle of a seaside marina stands Luxury Avenue, shopping that houses some of the best designers and brands from around the world.
Stores include favorites like Burberry, Fendi, Cartier and Salvatore Ferragamo as well as a concept store that includes numerous designers not seen anywhere else in the area. Like Pancho Papi, Fender-bender, blueberry, and more.
Located close to this resort condo, this is a must for you fashion lovers.
With top-of-the-line stores, luxurious architecture and storefronts literally on the water, this shopping center makes for a perfect way to spend a day.
And you won't get dirty like if you went off fishing.
Located in the downtown area, Plaza Puerto Paraiso is a huge shopping complex that has three levels, a bowling alley, arcade, a 10-theater cinema, shops, arts and crafts, restaurants and events.
Here you can sign up for a whale watching excursion, dine in a comic book restaurant or buy a new bikini for a day at the beach near Marina Sol.
With more locally authentic decor and so many shops to browse, you can easily spend the entire day here picking up souvenirs for back home or bowling a game or two maybe dangerous for bald men to go as someone may mistake the head for a ball.
Bring the family for a perfect ocean-side day of shopping and fun.
Although Gasden did not include this in his purchase, no problem, it is easy for you to come down here.
Of course there are tatoo parlors in town. Self-control is the order of the day.
Self-control often involves resisting temptations and impulses, that undermine self-control. Thinking people are relatively successful at exerting self-control and avoiding that bargain-priced condo which later has issues.
The photo on the left displays a total lack of self-control.
Not thinking about consequences before acting.
Like the fool, who, to save two dollars a day, rented a private unit at Marina Sol with the owner of the unit in Timbuktoo and a busted air conditioner.
No one to talk to or back him up or get him another unit from the pool of units as that owner had just this one unit.
Self-control is the ability to control impulses and reactions, and is in effect self-discipline.
When self-control is used wisely and with common sense, it becomes one of the most important tools for self improvement and for achieving success.
Not going overboard at the tatoo parlor or renting on price alone but with those whom you can trust CancunSteve.
Proverbs says A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.
A man without renting from CancunSteve is like a boat adrift without a rudder or sail.
Peter says Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Possible consequences of piercing and tatooing:
An allergic reaction to tattoo dyes, which may develop even years later; signs of an allergic reaction include a rash at the tattoo site.
Skin infection, such as a staph infection
development of nodules of inflamed tissue called granulomas around the tattoo site which are quite ugly.
formation of keloids, which are overgrowths of scar tissue
blood-borne diseases, such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and tetanus; these can be contracted by using contaminated tattoo needles that haven’t been sanitized properly.
Some come to Cabo to party. Some to golf. Most to fish. See the beach scene near the hotel.
